Government organization chart
Start with Memphis or Shelby County, then explore shared responsibilities and state context. Select a body for its people, powers and records; named relationships explain how separate authorities connect.
People & terms
Directory listings and announced appointments are labelled separately. Unknown dates remain visible.
Coverage gaps across the chart
Decisions & appointments
A selected set of source-linked actions. Committee passage, appointments, agency statements and final votes retain their own status.
History & changes
What happened, when we observed it and why the reviewed chart changed. A newly collected fact does not establish a new government action.
Action date
When the source says the action happened.
Observed date
When the source was reviewed.
Effective date
Only shown when supported; unknown stays unknown.
How evidence and corrections are retained
Each reviewed source has an observation ID, source URL, locator and qualification. Retained source bytes or rendered-page captures carry their own hashes; link-only notes are labelled. Previous published snapshots are preserved. A future correction should add a linked entry explaining what changed and why.
This first ledger does not reconstruct every prior officeholder or policy version. Statutory amendments, court orders, individual confirmations and actual service dates still need qualification.

Some sources are historical. Some laws and later court orders have not been fully reviewed. Read each source’s limits before relying on it.
